1000 Day Run Streak

Runstreak Day 1000!!! I got up this morning still not knowing what I was going to do to celebrate Runstreak day 1000!! Should I run 50 miles? Probably not a good idea since I just did that last weekend. What would Forrest Gump do? He would run!! So that is exactly what I did. I ran 1 mile for runstreak day 1000!! It might not have been the longest run during the 1000 day streak but it certainly was my fastest mile ever!! I ran a 5:48 mile this morning beating my old PR by 11 seconds. During the 1000 days every single mile has been run outside whether it be 100 degrees or -20 degrees. I have had runs from anywhere from 1 mile in a hotel parking lot to 100 miles on a 1 mile loop course to running 100 miles through mud, waist high water crossings to back to back marathons and Boston Qualifying times. I started running on May 23, 2011 as a way to lose weight. Have lost 60 lbs and maintained that weight loss for over 2 1/2 years. My streak started on November 23, 2011 as part of the Runners World Holiday Challenge. I did the challenge as a way to keep me motivated in the cold winter months here in Indiana. The challenge was supposed to end on Jan 1st but I just never stopped and here I am today at 1000 days. I would have never imagined when I started running that it would have changed my life like it has. During the 1000 days I have run a distance of 26.2 miles or more 71 times. 25 of those being races and 46 being as training runs. I have done 2-100 mile races and just recently run 50 miles in under 8 hours. For those who like stats, here you go. During the 1000 days I have run a total of 6,828 miles in 1,036 hours and 44 minutes burning 1,000,041 calories at an average pace of 9:07 per mile with an average of 6.82 miles per day. I want to thank you all for your continued support. It means so much to me. Runstreak day 1000!! Everyone have a nice day!!
